If you have to reinstall any windows system, this is the first utility to install after the setup process. It is a very simple background task that does nothing - until any process trys to modify your registry, at which point you can allow or deny the change. This program will save your skin, doesn't cost anything in the way of memory or disk space, and easily wins the utility of a lifetime as far as I'm concerned!
Winrar - it will popup reminders to cough up a registration fee everytime you open a compressed file, but at least you can unzip folders and create new archives right away. Another must have, especially when you encounter utility programs that don't come in the form of self-extracting executables!
The 64-bit windows version, this is the "go to" FTP program of your dreams. Unlike "Wise-FTP", this program does not shudder when you try to move data measured in terabytes to or from a web host. Added bonus, you can use it in SFTP mode to move files over your connection as well!
If you need SSH or Telnet, this will get you a command line interface into your *nix server.
This companion app to Putty lets you create public/private key pairs, which are required when you attempt to SSH into your new AWS virtual machine or EC2 server. Just be sure to save your .PPK, .PEM and pass phrases somewhere so you don't have to start from scratch when prompted for them!
Found a very old IBM Webcam that connects using USB in my collection. Took a while, but I found a copy of the driver needed to run it. Windows 7 and Windows Server 2012 both failed to have it on file, so this is the treasure box you have been looking for!
